FREE SUMMERPROGRAMFORHIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS AT
KETTERINGUNIVERSITY – AIM PROGRAM
AIM - Academically Interested Minorities is a five-week residential summer program designed to help students of color make a successful transition from high school to college. Students attend freshman level courses Monday through Thursday in calculus, chemistry, chemistry lab, computer programming, computer lab, economics, physics, physics lab and business management. At the end of the program, scholarships are awarded to the students who rank in the top 15 of the AIM program. There is NO COST to the student. The 2008 session will be July 6-August 8, 2008.
Qualifications: African American, Hispanic, and Native American students must have completed their junior year with a minimum 3.0 GPA in English, math, and chemistry courses (two years of high school algebra or the equivalent preparation; one year of geometry; one year of high school chemistry with lab; and two years of high school English). SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Provide a six-week summer experience for motivated high school students, hosted by one of the MTS’s corporate sponsors. Students will be provided with hands-on science/technology experience, building important scientific, technical and employment skills under the direction of a workplace mentor, and also receive a $1,920 stipend upon successful completion of the program.
Must be at least 16 years old on July 1, 2008, starting 11th or 12th grade in the fall of 2008, have a 3.5 GPA or better.

Scripps Research Institute PAID SUMMER INTERNSHIP
Grade 11
Internship program recruiting talented and self motivated high school juniors for paid positions at Scripps this summer. We are particularly interested in recruiting students who are First Generation College bound and/or under represented in the sciences. This
includes females, African-Americans, Latinos, Asian Pacific Islanders, and persons with disabilities. Students are awarded a gross compensation of $8.00 per hour for the summer internship program.
At least 3.0 GPA, must be 16 years of age or older. Students must have taken one year of biology and one year of chemistry prior to the start of the program. Students under 18 must submit a work permit application (available from the high school).

A summer residential immersion program that gives high school students a taste of the real college experience in a safe and supervised environment. Eligible students participate in a non-stop, three-week summer program held on the UC San Diego campus, enrolled in classes that mirror the university experience, ranging from engineering to theatre production. High school students, entering grades 10-12, must have a 3.3 grade point aver age (GPA) overall and a teacher or counselor recommendation. The program costs
$3,450 per student. Thanks to community partners, scholarships are available, which allows an opportunity for talented students who can benefit from the program but cannot afford to participate without financial assistance.
