Teacher Endowment Fund

Teachers are the heart of a school. In the final analysis, it is not the buildings, the curriculum, nor the technology that truly effect change in the lives of children - it is the teachers. Their dedication and passion make a daily difference in students' lives.

How does an endowment work? An endowment is a permanent fund. Money put into an endowment is never spent, but rather is invested for income and growth. It is the earnings on the investment that are used to provide support to an organization. In the case of SFC, the Teacher Endowment will provide resources to increase the salaries and benefits of our wonderful teaching staff.

Why does SFC need a Teacher Endowment? Endowment earnings are used to increase teacher salaries, allowing us to better recruit and retain a top-notch staff at SFC. Currently, teachers at SFC earn less than public school teachers in our area.

Teacher Endowment Goals  The long-term goal of the Endowment is to bring SFC salaries up to the level paid to public school teachers in our district. As part of our on-going fund raising campaign, "Pursuing our Purpose," we have a 5-year plan to increase teacher salaries to 90% of the salary levels of the local district. Along with tuition, gifts to the Teacher Endowment and the Santa Fe Fund will help us reach that goal.  We hope to grow the Teacher Endowment to $7 million in principal within 5 years, up from $3.3 million at the end of the ’04-’05 school year.
