MIDDLE SCHOOL
COMMUNITY SERVICE DAYS
PURPOSE
When challenged by the Pharisees and asked which was the greatest commandment, Jesus answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31.
Santa Fe Christian Schools’ Community Service Days are designed to help our children cultivate a heart to serve the Lord by reaching out to others in the San Diego area. Participation in community service projects allows our kids to learn about and experience the spirit of caring and giving, while allowing them to feel empathy and compassion for others. It is our desire to help our students gain a Christian worldview, experience a close walk with God, and bring glory to Him through ministry.
Community Service is an important part of the SFC curriculum. In the difficult times of our world, going out into the community to help others is one small real life experience we can offer our students. This is one school day that our children will spend with their focus entirely on others, serving Christ as He instructed in Mark 12:31, …”and love your neighbor as yourself…”
There are two SFC Community Service curriculum activities. One is the “during school” Community Service Days, which the school and MS PAC arrange. The other required community service hours are a separate obligation which is the student’s (& his/her family) responsibility to arrange.
All of the ground work for our class Community Service days is complete. We would like to invite you to have the opportunity to share the upcoming Community Service Day(s) with your children by leading a group of students that day by driving and/or being a chaperone with a SFC teacher.
With Prayers,
Your Community Service Chairs,
Debora Demarest & Susan Ferrari
