Miss Eastman Fifth Grade Teacher
I consider it an enormous blessing and humbling privilege to play a part in shaping the hearts and minds of the 5th graders here at SFC. It is my desire and passion to lead each student to a deeper love for the Lord and His people through our classroom experiences. I seek to create a “Classroom Community” founded on respect in which students feel free to explore new ideas, openly share their thoughts and opinions, and take ownership of their learning. Learning takes on new meaning when viewed in light of our charge to love the Lord with all our “heart, soul, and mind”! (Matthew 22:37)
The 5th grade year is one of increased responsibility and a stimulating time of new academic challenges. Amanda Walker and I are excited to work together as the Language Arts Team, emphasizing the mastery of reading and writing skills as they are foundational to all other learning. The reading curriculum is designed to inspire a love for reading in students while pushing them to think critically and analytically. Our novel-based curriculum creates a forum for meaningful classroom discussion and an authentic venue for the integration of faith and learning.
As a former SFC student, I feel doubly blessed to now be a member of the faculty, working alongside many of the teachers and staff who encouraged me in my faith and learning over my eleven years as a student here. After graduating from and credentialing at Pepperdine University in 2006, I am thrilled about the opportunity to serve again as a member of the outstanding Fifth Grade Team!
