Mary Braun Literacy SpecialistOnly God's Word can speak so succinctly on how I feel about being called to be a teacher. As both a Santa Fe Christian parent and educator I am humbled by the breadth and depth of God's plan for me in teaching. It is my blessing and pleasure to have the life-impacting opportunity to work with students in the literacy program. It is my firm belief that reading is the cornerstone to all learning. The goal for the literacy program is to instill the love of reading in a positive, motivating environment. As students progress from 'learning to read' to 'reading to learn' - my hope and desire is that they become LIFE LONG READERS. Our program offers essential elements of balanced reading instruction. I currently work with all 1st - 3rd graders once a week in guided reading groups. Our teacher to student ratio ranges from 1:2 to 1:6. "A wise person makes learning a joy" Proverbs 15:2 |
