Mrs. Wright     Physical Education

Since all wisdom and knowledge come from God, education to its fullest potential needs to include God, the source of this wisdom and knowledge (Proverbs 9:10). Physical Education is not just training for an athlete to use their gifts, but for all to learn that our bodies are a temple of God (I Corinthians 3:16) and learning to stay fit for life makes our bodies function efficiently to serve God and others. Because Physical Education is the microcosm of life, it is taught from a Christian viewpoint where the student uses not only their body, but their mind and soul. Different factors come into play during physical activity with group dynamics, therefore many character qualities such as sportsmanship, doing ones personal best, cooperation, kindness, honesty, and self-control are emphasized. Winning with humility and losing with dignity are practiced. It is the total educational experience of the individual, both curricular and extra curricular, in which every aspect should be a reflection of the truth of God as revealed in His Word.

Hobbies: traveling, reading, running, photography, gardening

God has blessed me with a family that loves people, sports and traveling which has given us many opportunities outside of school to travel together internationally with sports ministries to share Jesus. Physical education applies Biblical truths to sportsmanship, doing one’s personal best, respect for one another and equipment, honesty, obedience, and self-control.

(Kindergarten—2nd Grades)

Physical education class is based on a developmental program that emphasizes locomotor, nonlocomotor, body management, manipulative, and rhythmic movement skills. Basic skills are used in game-like activities.

(3rd—5th Grades)

Physical education class develops lifelong skills incorporating fitness, health, and safety. Team sports are learned through an approach of basic to more complex skills and drills. Lead up activities are then used to learn the team sport.

Organized Lunch Activities
(4th—5th Grades)

The lower school P.E. teacher and staff organize optional team sports on the lower field during lunch recess, which enables students an extended reinforcement of learned skills from P.E. classes. Team sports offered are basketball, flag football, polo pillow hockey, soccer, and softball as well as game-like activities such as Capture the Flag, kickball, tag, tetherball, etc.

Students have opportunities to participate in club sports during the school year and sports camps in the summer which are offered by on campus coaches.
