Welcome to Middle School Performing Arts! I love middle school students! They are full of energy and enthusiasm! It is the school’s goal to introduce every student to the arts. This is a vital part of a student’s education. We strive to develop the creative side of the student in a way that honors God. The Middle School Choir (7th and 8th grades) is a great place to make friends and have fun! The great thing is, you do not have to be a singer to join the choir! My job is to teach you how to sing and help you develop your skills as a musician. I know you will enjoy being a part of the choir. Give it a try! We sing everything from Latin, Spanish and French to musical theatre, contemporary Christian and popular music. The choir participates in the school Christmas concert in December as well as graduation, ministry to nursing homes and chapels. We order outfits in the fall which are worn for concerts and festivals. Music Appreciation is part of the 6th grade elective rotation. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to meet each and every 6th grader! In music appreciation we will sing, learn to read music notes and rhythms, be introduced to a variety of band and orchestral instruments, play rhythm games and learn about composers. In addition, we will discuss American popular music, jazz, blues, musical theatre and contemporary Christian music. This is a fun class with most all work done during class. Music is lifelong! Col. 3:16-17 Have a great year! Rhonda Fleming |
