Music Appreciation 6 [Elective Wheel]

Students will gain an appreciation of music through exposure to a plethora of styles and instruments. Students will listen, analyze, and study music written by the "great" composers. Basic music theory will be taught including note reading, rhythm, dynamics, and music notation. Learning about the orchestra and band instruments and taking a field trip to a symphony will give the students an appreciation for various types of music. Students will also develop specific abilities including breathing, voice placement, diction, and sight singing. The class will integrate worship with hymns and choruses, and two-part choral singing.
