I have taught at SFC for five years, prior to which I taught English Composition and Research Paper Writing to college freshmen at Emerson College in Boston, MA. Subjects I have taught at SFC include Honors and regular 9th grade English, regular 12th grade English (British Literature), 6th grade Study Skills, Middle School Creative Writing, Upper School Writing to Publish, and regular and Honors 11th grade English (American Literature). I hold a B.A. in English and Spanish from the University of San Diego and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Emerson College. My priorities when teaching include fostering in students independent, critical thinking; building logical thesis arguments; writing high-quality academic essays; reading actively and analytically; and working toward grammar mastery. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, camping and hiking, kayaking, playing the piano and drums, painting, writing and publishing poetry, attending creative writing conferences, traveling, hosting parties for friends and family, and being involved in church activities. I also enjoy coaching the JV Academic League Team and leading an advisory group for 11th grade girls. I love teaching, and thank God for His blessing me with the students at SFC!
