** Algebra I, French I and Spanish I are college preparatory classes. Students taking a college preparatory class in Middle School must understand that a grade of B or better and teacher approval is required to continue on to the next level in Upper School. Also, students are required to complete two years of a modern language in Upper School for graduation. This is in addition to the year taken in Middle School.

Curricular Distinctive
Santa Fe Christian Schools teaches all disciplines with a commitment to direct students to the truth. We believe that all truth is God’s truth and all our instruction centers on this belief. Bible classes cover Old and New Testament history, foundations of the faith and world philosophies. The SFC Middle School is committed to providing a Christ centered, academically challenging, college preparatory education.

Academic Requirements
All students must maintain a minimum 2.3 Grade Point Average in order to remain a student at SFC. Students falling below a 2.3 are placed on academic probation for a semester.

Community Service Requirement
Community service hours are required of all SFC MS students grades 6 through 8.
· Eighth Graders - 10 hours for one semester
· Seventh Graders - 8 hours for one semester
· Sixth Graders - 3 hours per semester

Calendar
Thirty-six weeks, 2 18-week semesters; 6 term grading system.

Daily Schedule
7:50AM - 2:40 PM Monday-Thursday. Friday, 7:50 AM-1:45 PM. Each day there are six periods of 55 minutes in length.

Chapel Program
Every Thursday throughout the school year, the students are challenged to grow in their faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Communication
To keep parents informed weekly, the middle school publishes The Bridge, which is distributed to students to be given to parents. In addition, students and parents may access the school’s website at www.sfcs.net for current and past editions of The Bridge.

Parent Advisory Council
The Middle School Parent Advisory Council is a group of committed Christian volunteers who serve to advise, encourage, and provide support for the staff, students, and parents involved at SFC.

Student Council
Leadership training is a vital aspect at Santa Fe Christian Schools. Students grades 6-8 are elected and participate in the Student Council.

Athletics
SFC is a member of the Southcoast Middle School League. Bishops, La Jolla Country Day, Francis Parker, Horizon Christian, Christian, Tri-City Christian, Coronado, Rancho Santa Fe, and the San Diego Jewish Academy are the other nine members.

6th Grade Camp
Each year, the 6th grade students attend a one-week camp at Indian Hills. This camp is designed to integrate the students’ faith and knowledge in Jesus Christ as they study God’s creation.

8th Grade Retreat
Each year, the 8th grade students take a three-day and two-night retreat designed to help them grow in their faith and knowledge in Jesus Christ.

8th Grade Washington, DC Trip
Each year, the school takes eighth grade students for a week-long trip to the east coast. Eligible students must have a 2.75 GPA, favorable citizenship marks, and must be in good standing with the school. The cost of the trip is approximately $1500.
